After three sets of intense tennis Murray unloaded a forehand on match point that flew by Marcos Baghdatis. Murray roared, and so did the crowd. Baghdatis left the court in tears after a huge effort.
Baghdatis and Murray played a great three-setter. Murray forecasted trouble after his last match saying that Baghdatis hit a very flat ball, which is well suited to the lawns of the All-England Club. Baghdatis took the first set 6-4. But Murray dominated in the second set winning 6-1, and cruised though the third 6-4. "Second set I started moving my feet more and hitting my forehand better because of it," Murray said. "First set he was dictating all the points."
"[The crowd] makes a big difference, support was great today. Every time I play on Centre Court I tend to play some of my best tennis. So i hope I can keep it up I'm going to need it," he said.
Next for Murray is Nicolas Almagro in the quarterfinals.
"Never played him on grass before." Murray said. "He's got a big serve, goes for his shots, takes big cuts at the ball...He's probably having the best year of his life...It's very important to stay very solid against him."
