Nadal To Miss US Hard Court Season
The worst case scenario for tennis fans has been realized as Rafael Nadal has just withdrawn from the 2012 US Open. It will be the first without him since 2003. Nadal's latest bout with knee trouble may be even more serious than anyone anticipated.

Wimbledon Redux
Just under a month after Roger Federer beat Murray for the seventh Wimbledon title the two will meet again on Centre Court with serious hardware on the line. This time, an Olympic gold medal. For Federer, this may be his last chance to secure the career "golden slam" as another opportunity won't come again until 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Fed will be 35 when the Rio summer games come around. Four years is an eternity in tennis.
For Murray, an Olympic gold medal on home soil would be the biggest accomplishment of his career so far.

Marcos Baghdatis (CYP) v. (3) Murray (GBR) -
After three sets of intense tennis Murray unloaded a forehand on match point that flew by Marcos Baghdatis. Murray roared, and so did the crowd. Baghdatis left the court in tears after a huge effort.
Baghdatis and Murray played a great three-setter. Murray forecasted trouble after his last match saying that Baghdatis hit a very flat ball, which is well suited to the lawns of the All-England Club. Baghdatis took the first set 6-4. But Murray dominated in the second set winning 6-1, and cruised though the third 6-4. "Second set I started moving my feet more and hitting my forehand better because of it," Murray said. "First set he was dictating all the points."
"[The crowd] makes a big difference, support was great today. Every time I play on Centre Court I tend to play some of my best tennis. So i hope I can keep it up I'm going to need it," he said.
Next for Murray is Nicolas Almagro in the quarterfinals.
"Never played him on grass before." Murray said. "He's got a big serve, goes for his shots, takes big cuts at the ball...He's probably having the best year of his life...It's very important to stay very solid against him."

Lleyton Hewitt (AUS) v. (2) Novak Djokovic
Lleyton Hewitt took the first set off Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic Stats: 16 aces, 37 winners
"Incredible match, he started off really well," Djokovic said. "He was striking the ball really well. Ball bounces lower than it did on Wimbledon. It's always a pleasure playing against him."
On possible Tsonga match: "He's very dynamic from the baseline, plays great volleys. He has the perfect game for this surface."

(1) Federer (SUI) v. Istomin (UZB)
Roger Federer had little trouble securing a spot in the quarter finals against Istomin of Uzbekistan.
"I played a good match at the end," Federer said. "He played aggressive
The match was stopped at 5-5 with the score love-thirty in the first set. "The rain delay wasn't very comfortable," Federer said.
"It's different [from Wimbledon]. You're never really tired after a match. It's more a marathon than a sprint. You can really save some good energy if you get through in straight sets."
Federer has a doubles match later today.
