The worst case scenario for tennis fans has been realized as Rafael Nadal has just withdrawn from the 2012 US Open.  It will be the first without him since 2003.  Nadal's latest bout with knee trouble may be even more serious than anyone anticipated.

Wimbledon Redux

Just under a month after Roger Federer beat Murray for the seventh Wimbledon title the two will meet again on Centre Court with serious hardware on the line.  This time, an Olympic gold medal.  For Federer, this may be his last chance to secure the career "golden slam" as another opportunity won't come again until 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.  Fed will be 35 when the Rio summer games come around.  Four years is an eternity in tennis. 

For Murray, an Olympic gold medal on home soil would be the biggest accomplishment of his career so far.
